Lerrig Lodge

In 2018, Lerrig Lodge in Malahide was reimagined by Brennan Furlong Architects. This period home from 1912 now has one foot in the present with subtle modern extensions whose pale brickwork binds old and new in harmony.

 Lerrig Lodge in Malahide

The new extensions at Lerrig Lodge are faced throughout in Casa Lena brick, supplying a pale, textured masonry that creates a soft, luminous backdrop under the Malahide tree canopy. Chosen for its light hue and fine variation in surface, this brick allows shadows from overhanging foliage to animate façades inside and out. The consistent materiality of Casa Lena brick gives the building a grounded elegance, striking a balance with the sharp concrete ring‑beams and timber‑clad bedroom box. Its durability and tactile quality reflect craft and context, anchoring the old house’s character to the new interventions.
