Completed in 2017, Kavanagh Court is one of Dublin’s largest purpose-built student accommodation developments, providing 491 student bedrooms within 88 self-contained units across a seven-storey, 17,000m² building. Designed by John Fleming Architects and built by Bennett Construction, the residence includes private en-suite rooms with modern study facilities and generous natural light, alongside communal amenities such as a gym, games room and roof terrace overlooking the city skyline. Located just minutes from major universities, the A-rated, BREEAM-certified building has been praised for both its sustainability and its role in supporting city-centre student living.
A standout feature of the project is its carefully curated brickwork, supplied by Clay&Co to complement the historic North Georgian Quarter. Each elevation uses a distinct tone to respond to its streetscape: Kingscourt Grafton Multi red brick on Gardiner Street and Summerhill, Kingscourt Brown Smooth facing Diamond Park, Kingscourt Buff Smooth along Gloucester Place, and Wienerberger Platinum White in the internal courtyard. These smooth-faced bricks were selected—and in some cases custom-made—to meet the architect’s exact specifications, helping the building blend into its heritage surroundings while establishing its own visual identity.
