The Goethe Institut, located in the stately Georgian terrace of Merrion Square, beautifully fuses restored period elegance with a striking new rear mews extension in a unified, light‑filled composition. This historic Georgian building was refurbished by Henchion Reuters Architects in 2018.

The Lithium brick by Vandersanden plays a central role in the new mews building. Chosen for its tactile quality and contextual resonance with Dublin’s Georgian fabric, the brickwork bridges past and present. Laid with refined craftsmanship, the brick façade complements the historic Merrion Square setting while asserting a contemporary identity. Its warm tones and subtle textural variations create a dialogue with the original structure, allowing the new addition to feel grounded yet distinct.
